WMCF Graduates Class 03-11 out of Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Base 02/04/2011.
WMCF converted two rooms at the Wounded Warrior Battalion West, Twentynine Palms DET into classrooms. Twenty four Students participated in the four week class. WMCF is currently running a four week class at Wounded Warrior Battalion West in the Alpha Company barracks at Camp Pendleton, followed by another four week class at Twentynine Palms.
Disabled Service Members and Veterans will learn how to:
- Research the story
- Record the interviews and content
- Edit the piece
- Deliver the story for radio, television and internet publication
Our current class started in September & includes four weeks of "Quick Start" training to prepare for a new career in media arts. A Career Training and Job Placement Program.
The WMCF production studio training facilities are co-located on both coasts, in the Wounded Warrior Battalion West Barracks, and on base in Quantico, VA.
Union Support
The International Alliance of Theatre and Stage Employees (IATSE) has endorsed the Wounded Marine Careers Foundation Centers for Careers in Media. IATSE is the international labor union representing moving picture technicians, artists and allied crafts of the United States, its Territories and Canada.
Members of the union will serve as instructors / advisors throughout the Wounded Marine Careers Foundation training.
Curriculum and Facility
Film industry professionals, including cameramen, writers, editors, graphic designers and photographers, serve as instructors and mentors, sharing their expertise with this new group of 50 disabled veterans. Each participating service member and veteran will work with filmmaking packages consisting of state-of-the-art equipment, including Panasonic AG-HVX200 High Definition cameras and Apple Computer stations with Final Cut Pro.
Collectively, the facility roster currently holds three Academy Awards, multiple Emmys, multiple Cine Golden Eagles plus numerous other national and international awards.
